Filler Masterbatches for Compostable Compound

Compostable polymers and compounds are very costly compared to conventional plastics & thus there is great scope in adding fillers in to it. Researchers at Kandui R & D Centre have been working on addressing this major issue and have succeeded in developing KANDUI ECO SAFE® FILLER-107 which is a fully compostable filler suitable for blown films with thickness ranging from 10 to 200 microns used in carry bags, agricultural & packaging applications. Films made using this filler are translucent with very good dispersion, gloss and good printing & sealing properties. This filler masterbatch is used to reduce the cost of compostable bags at 20-50% dosage along with the regular compostable compound. This filler masterbatch fulfils the requirements of the European standard DIN EN 13432, the US standard ASTM D 6400 & ISO 17088 for compostable and biodegradable polymers. The compound also complies for food contact application as per various European and US food contact notifications, such as EU Directive 94/62/EC, EU Directive 2002/72/EC (as amended) and US food contact notification FCN 907.
